Materna Kits Deliveries
Each mother that attends a Materna Kits Community Delivery receives a manual breast pump and other reusable items. Community leaders, health workers, clinic owners, and medical staff learn about important maternal and infant health topics alongside the mothers. We provide education on infant nutrition, maternal health and mental health, lactation consulting, breast pump usage, and first aid preparedness. We also present research to demystify many common, outdated ideologies that are still being passed on through generations in low income communities in Latin America.
EducationWe are proud to sponsor the education of young girls who are from at risk, extremely low income communities. Our students’ tuition is paid for in its entirety by their individual sponsors. Each young woman is allowed to choose the degree she wants to pursue.
Our current young scholars are pursuing the fields of Business Administration, Education, English Language, and Psychology. They are each required to give back in their communities, specifically by taking on the initiative to encourage young girls to pursue an education. We also have a program that supports female high school students who otherwise would have to discontinue their education to provide for their family members, we currently have 10 students sponsored and plan to expand to support 10 more students in 2025. These high school students take on community projects to support education and personal development among even younger students in their communities! |
Better OpportunitiesBusiness Start Ups for Adolescent Mothers + Single Mothers
We provide all of the supplies necessary to help a mother get her small business up and running.
For example, we have helped young single moms start Pupuserias in El Salvador; we provided them with a grill and other needed kitchen supplies, the ingredientes for two weeks of sales, and advertising materials. Their businesses have been a stable source of income for these mothers for the past 5 months. WE PLAN TO EXPAND THE BETTER OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM + HELP 25 MOTHERS CREATE SELF RELIANT BUSINESSES BY 2030. |
Emergency Relief
For many of the mothers that we meet, we are the first and only resource that they are aware of when they receive heartbreaking medical diagnoses, because of our active role in many rural communities.
In these types of special cases, we provide emergency relief in many ways. -We create connections for the families with free resources + willing medical staff -We provide financial aid for transportation and food supply for the families while they are required to travel to and from hospital visits by pairing them with an individual sponsor -We fundraise for items and tools that will improve their quality of life (i.e., large strollers for children with Cerebral Palsy) |
There is still so much work to be done, and your contributions help create real change. |
